Year 11 Revision Information

The Year 11 information evening on Wednesday 18 September 2024 will give us the opportunity to meet in person for the first time in a long time. It allowed us to introduce key members of the staff team, outline the year ahead and highlight the importance of the trial exams. We were also able to offer guidance on how to prepare for exams mindfully and successfully.

Further Questions?

Will there be a drop in the level of homework as we get closer to exams? My son/daughter currently spends 2-3 hours per night, sometimes more. If it doesn’t decrease, any advice on how we support her balancing it out without missing deadlines?
Staff have been asked to, as far as possible, set homework that is focused on revision and consolidation in the run up to the trial exams.
Do pupils not do work experience now?
Students do not complete work experience in exam years, i.e. Year 11 and Year 13. In the personal development programme, there is a clear focus on careers and next steps after Year 11. Students will also receive one to one interviews with a trained careers advisor across the course of the year.
Will there be targeted revision sessions before the trial exams or only after them?
Yes, targeted revision sessions will be delivered before the trial exams.
Do students get study leave during the trial exam period?
No, when students are not in exams they should attend lessons as normal.
What happens if a student is absent for one or more of the exams?
Provision will be made for students who have missed an exam through catch up sessions.
