We are delighted with another very strong set of GCSE results at Emmanuel College. Emmanuel students continued our track record of outstanding GCSE results, sustaining 2025’s record breaking results, and in some measures achieving even higher.
Our most impressive improvements came from our SEND and disadvantaged cohorts, who made exceptional progress. Disadvantaged students achieved an Attainment 8 grade of 49.06, increasing from last year’s 47.48. This group also made rapid progress in other measures, with grades 5 and above in English and Maths increasing to 58.3% from 46.8%. For the same measure SEND students achieved 46.2%, up from 39.3% the previous year. Attainment 8 also increased significantly for this group, from 42.04 to 45.38. These amazing results for these students demonstrate the commitment Emmanuel College has to the whole of its community achieving their personal best.
86.1% of students passed English and Maths at Grade 4 and above. 73.4% of students achieved English and Maths at Grade 5 and above, broadly in line with last year’s record-breaking results, and putting our students in an exceptionally strong position to start their desired A Level options. An impressive 41.3% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in Maths, surpassing last year’s record result in this measure. 45.6% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in English Literature or Language, another rise from last year’s results. In Maths, the school has achieved a record number of grade 9s, with 27 awarded, and a quarter of the cohort achieving grade 8 or above. All Further Maths students were awarded a grade 7 or above. This is a truly fantastic result.
11 students have an amazing average grade of a 9. 18% of the whole cohort achieved an average of grade 8, and 32% of students achieved an average of a grade 7 and above. These results sustain the excellent results from the previous year and is a significant achievement and testament to the hard work and resilience of the students and a real tribute to the staff support them. Overall, at Emmauel College, our students’ progress is well above national average.
As well as headline figures, there are some amazing individual success stories to highlight as well. Millie Newsome and Milo Laing both obtained a staggering 10 grades 9s and 1 grade 8. James Mitchell, Oliver Moss, Ayaan Malik, Olivia Saxby, Sophie Gibson, Dian Mohammed and Sathini Mahipala Mudalige all achieved a full suite of results at grade 8 and above.
Emmanuel College is a place committed to the whole community achieving the top grades and making exceptional progress. Our strong curriculum offer enabled students to achieve exceptionally well in a range of different subject areas. 36.4% of students studying Music were awarded a grade 9, with 72.7% obtaining a grade 7 or above. Our Languages department continued their impressive results of recent years with 46.8% of French students and 45.8% of Spanish students being awarded a grade 7 or above. Our German cohort saw a massive rise on grade 9s to 29.6% from 12%. Grade 7 and above was 48% in the previous year, increasing to 77.8%. This is fantastic improvement and reflects the dedication of the staff and students. Over 1 in 5 students achieved a grade 9 in Computer Science, again an increase on the previous year. Our vocational students continued to make strong improvements in their subjects, with Engineering students having their average grade rise to 6.6 from 6.2 in the previous year. Digital Information and Technology students saw their average grade results rise to 5.1 from 4.8. Students taking Sports Studies were also highly successful, with 42% of students achieving a Distinction *.
A very large majority of Emmanuel students achieved high enough grades at GCSE to ensure they can access a wide range of A level and vocational courses. Overall these exceptional results are a credit to the hard work and dedication of the students who have been fantastically supported by the committed staff team at Emmanuel College who always go above and beyond for the students in their care.
