In Year 7 History students will chart the development of Medieval Britain from Roman invasions of 43AD to the religious changes under the Tudor Monarchs. Within in each unit, students will learn about the economic, political, religious and a cultural changes which occurred. They will then be required to recall their knowledge of previous time periods to reach judgements regarding how much change and continuity occurred. To enable students to place their knowledge of British History within developments in the wider world students will also cover the growth of Medieval Christianity in Europe and Islam in the Near East to understand the causes and consequences of the Crusades. Finally, in the summer term students will study the reformation and it’s impact on Britain. This will provide essential context to the year 8 unit of study on the growth of democracy.
