Top Grades and Top Universities: Emmanuel College Students Shine in 2025 A Level and BTEC Results

The Associated Sixth Form at Emmanuel College Celebrates Strong A-Level Results and Exciting University Destinations

Emmanuel College in Gateshead, host of the Associated Sixth Form, is thrilled to announce another year of outstanding A-Level and BTEC results, reflecting the hard work and dedication of both students and staff. The results continue to uphold the college’s tradition of academic excellence, with students achieving impressive grades across many different subjects and going on to study at many prestigious universities. This year’s cohort was significantly larger than 2024, and we anticipate this growth to continue at a rapid pace, as more and more students are attracted to our broad and inclusive offer, rapidly improving facilities, and the opportunity to gain outstanding grades and acceptance to prestigious courses and universities.

31.1% of A Level grades awarded were A*/A and 59.9% of grades were A*-B. Vocational courses saw another really strong performance, with the average grade awarded being a Distinction. Many students achieved exceptional results, with two students earning A*s in all their A-Level subjects, and thirteen others securing three A grades or above. Additionally, six students achieved the top grade of Triple Distinction* in their vocational courses, and six others earned equivalent to 3 As or more. Collectively, these students approach one fifth of the cohort.

The highest achieving A Level students include Jacob Stamper (A*,A*,A*), Elizabeth Webster (A*,A*,A*), Bernard Offor (A*,A*,A,A), Belle Mitchell (A*,A*,A,A), Johan Joby (A*,A*,A), Keturah Strange (A*,A*,A), Robyn Clarke (A*,A, A), Ed Symington (A*,A,A), Ben Hewer (A*,A,A,C) and Emily Leyland (A*,A*,B).

The six students who achieved Triple Distinction*, equivalent to 3A*s, are Layla Atkinson, Muhammad Jaashay, Sam Jones, Yuvraj Pannu, Maxwell Sandells and Jack Taylor. Maxwell also achieved a B in English Language A Level, and a B in Maths A Level ,which he completed outside school! Additionally, Fabian Iliffe and Shayan Asif achieved the equivalent of 2A*s and 1A, with each being awarded D*,D*,D. Lyba Aslam and Zijie Lui were awarded the equivalent of A*,A,A, with both achieving D*D,D. This continues our proud heritage of students achieving exceptionally by choosing our well established and successful vocational route. Students are using these qualifications to get into top courses at top universities. Indeed, of the 13 students who are going on to study Engineering at university, maintaining our record of success in this subject, over three quarters of these students studied the BTEC diploma in Engineering rather than a more traditional A Level route.

We are also proud of our ever-growing portfolio of subjects offered at Emmanuel College. This is the first year in which students have completed Applied Law and Heath and Social Care BTECs, and A Level Psychology. Students have used this as a gateway to prestigious university courses. For instance, Anna Finlay has been accepted on to a Psychology degree at Northumbria University, after studying History, Psychology and BTEC Health and Social Care. Lily-Mae Wood will be studying Law at Northumbia, after achieving grades in Psychology, English Language and BTEC Law. Pamela Latsi will be studying Law at Lancaster University, after achieving grades in BTEC Law and BTEC Business.

As students eagerly anticipate their next steps, Emmanuel College is proud to report that as of Thursday 14 August, 105 students have already secured their firm or insurance offer, 95 being accepted into their firm. This includes 59 students attending prestigious Russell Group universities, representing close to 40% of the cohort, and 45% of those students who applied to university.

The college is particularly proud to celebrate the achievements of three students who have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge, continuing the college’s tradition of success with Oxbridge applications. Keturah Strange will be studying English at Jesus College, Cambridge University. Elizabeth Webster will be studying History at St Hilda’s College, Oxford University. Kathryn Pyle will be studying Law, also at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford University.

In addition to these successes, we have three confirmed future medics and 22 students overall who are following a healthcare pathway as a next step, including Nursing, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science and Paramedic Science.

The future is bright for the Associated Sixth Form’s Class of 2025. The college community looks forward to supporting all students as they finalise their university or apprenticeship placements and embark on the next exciting chapter of their academic journeys.
