The inaugural Emmanuel College sixth-form conference took place on Wednesday 18 December at Northumbria University, hosted by Head of Sixth Form Mr Clarke, Principal Mr Waterfield, and alumna, Jessica Morgan.
It was heartwarming to reflect on our students’ progress over the past 17 weeks since GCSE results day. Time has flown, and it’s moments like these that remind us how much stronger we are when we come together.
For many students, the day was an exciting first step on campus, an opportunity to meet new faces and forge new connections. It was a reminder that the opportunities in the Associated Sixth Form of Emmanuel and Grace College are endless – grab them with both hands and run! Jess Morgan’s words were nothing short of inspiring – her message was powerful, personal, and meaningful, echoing the sentiments and aspirations that we have for the students in our care.
The event was also a chance to celebrate the collective efforts of our students, staff, parents and carers, and all our supporters. The excellence that students have achieved is only possible through this powerful partnership, and today we saw that spirit in full force. A highlight of the day was the introduction of our newly appointed Assistant Head Boy and Assistant Head Girl, alongside their incredible team of senior student leaders, including Assistant Heads of House and Media Team leaders. It was inspiring to see them step up and be welcomed by their peers – leaders who will undoubtedly play a key role in shaping our community moving forward.
“It was fantastic to attend our Christmas sixth-form conference today,” said Mr Waterfield. “A wonderful end to the first term of the Associated Sixth Form of Emmanuel and Grace College! Jess was the first Head Girl that I appointed after becoming Principal in April 2016. Her story, that she so expertly shared today to this new generation, is humbling and inspiring. My thanks to all involved and my best wishes to all those now taking up roles as student leaders.”
