Students have taken part in a mammoth quiz with more than 1,200 pupils testing their general knowledge in a festive extravaganza.
Gareth Steer, director of operations at Emmanuel College, Gateshead, organised the mass mastermind as part of a day of Yuletide fun.
Students took part in a variety of mental challenges which pitted the collective wits of the college houses with questions played over the public address system and the answers marked by staff.
Mr Steer said: “The Christmas Cracker day is staged annually marking the start of festivities for our hard working staff and students, culminating in a hearty lunch.”
