We are delighted with another very strong set of GCSE results at Emmanuel College. Emmanuel students continued our track record of outstanding GCSE results, matching 2024’s record breaking results, and in some measures, achieving even higher.

88% of students passed English and Maths at Grade 4 and above, which is our best result for eight years and a rise on 85.5% in 2024. Over 74% of students achieved English and Maths at Grade 5 and above, matching last year’s record breaking results, and putting our students in an exceptionally strong position to start their desired A Level options. An impressive 40% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in Maths, a 5% rise on last year and our best result in that measure, or equivalent, since 2016. 44.7% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in English Literature or Language.

13 students have an amazing average grade of a 9. Over a third of our students have an average grade of a 7 or above and 19.5% of students have an average grade of an 8 or above. This is a significant achievement and testament to the hard work and resilience of the students and the a real tribute to the staff support them. Overall, at Emmauel College, our students’ progress is well above national average.

We want to pay tribute to some fantastic individual student results. Our highest achieving student was Dylan D’Silva with a clean sweep of 13 grade 9s. Elliot and Arthur Gledhill, starring twins at Emmanuel, achieved 10 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s in exactly the same subjects! Both students were two marks off full marks in Maths GCSE and Elliot achieved full marks in English Literature!

Other top achievers include Emelie Shaw (8 grade 9s, 1 LD*, 4 grade 8s), Hildana Seifeselassie (10 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s) and Sophie Evans (9 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s).

Charlotte Laws achieved on average two grades higher than her targets (1 grade 9, 4 grade 8s and 4 grade 7s); her average target was a grade 5. Similarly, Charlie Glendon, who had a target of 6.8, also achieved impressively over his target (5 grade 9s, 1 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s). Both students are to be congratulated on their absolutely outstanding achievements.

Miia Fedko, who moved to the UK from Ukraine in 2022, is to be especially congratulated on an outstanding set of grades. She achieved 1 grade 9,1 grade 8, 1 grade 6, 5 grade 5s, 1 grade 4 and 1M2 and 1P2.

Emmanuel College is a place committed to the whole community achieving the top grades and making exceptional progress. 84.6% of students at Emmanuel followed an ambitious Ebacc curriculum because we are uncompromising in ensuring that Emmanuel students are valued, challenged and inspired. We are particularly proud of our languages results this year with 87.4% of students achieving a grade 4 or above (86% in 2024) and 35% of students achieving a grade 7 and above in French. 96% of students achieved a grade 4 and 44% achieved a grade 7 or above in German. It is only our second year of offering Spanish at GCSE, and nearly 40% of the cohort achieved a 7 or above, and 83% a grade 4 or above. These grades are hugely impressive considering that the majority of our students were entered for a modern foreign language.

We are also proud of our humanities results with over 111 students entered for History and over half of these students gained a grade 7 or above with nearly a quarter of the History cohort gaining a grade 9.

We’ve always been a school committed to creating and inculcating an exceptional Creative Arts curriculum. This is reflected in the results of our Creative Arts Faculty. A remarkable 43% of students in Drama achieved an 8 or above. In Art 32% of students achieved a 9 and 40% an 8 or above.  In Music 40% achieved a 7 or above and 30% a grade 8.

We’re proud of our exceptional vocational offering at Emmanuel College, and results again were outstanding. This was our first year of offering Health and Social Care BTEC, and there were some really encouraging results, with 14.6% of students achieving D*2 and 54.2% of students achieving D2-D*2. This fantastic set of outcomes was mirrored by other vocational subjects. 12.8% of students achieved D*2 Engineering and 59.6% D2-D*2. In Sports Studies, it was an amazing 32.7% (D*2) and 71.4% (D2-D*2).

A very large majority of Emmanuel students achieved high enough grades at GCSE to ensure they can access a wide range of A level and vocational courses.

Overall these exceptional results are a credit to the hard work and dedication of the students who have been fantastically supported by the committed staff team at Emmanuel College who always go and beyond for the students in their care.
