Public speaking winners storm competition

Emmanuel College recently competed in the ESU Public Speaking competition hosted at Newcastle School for Girls. This competition for Key Stage 3 & 4 students is the largest public speaking competition in England and Wales.  Teams are made up of three students: chairperson, speaker and questioner.  Two separate heats took place, and Emmanuel was represented in both.   From the first set of heats, Sophia Beadle won ‘Chairperson of the Night’, and quite rightly so!  She did a fantastic job, supported by her team (Raeanna Hill and Malika Riffert).

The excitement didn’t stop there: our second team made it through to the regional finals which will take place on Saturday 2 March at Leeds Royal Grammar School.  The winning team – Kirsten Dobbison, Megan Oliver and Max Abdulgani – each presented with great skill and are now preparing for the challenge of the regional finals.
