Top mathematicians take the Maths Challenge by storm

Friday 16 February 2024

Our top mathematicians have pulled off the best results in years in the highly competitive Intermediate Maths Challenge – and one student is among just 500 students to qualify for the prestigious Olympiad!

Selected students in Years 10 and 11 took part in the Challenge at the end of January, and the results have just come in: our Year 11 students gained a grand total of 24 Gold, 14 Silver and 15 Bronze certificates and our Year 10 students achieved 9 Gold, 21 Silver and 23 Bronze.

Pitted against 226,481 participants from across the country and beyond, the students had to challenge themselves to think beyond the curriculum with 25 puzzling problems.

But the competition is not over yet!  Out of our certificate winners, there are 22 students whose high scores qualify them for the Kangaroo competition at the end of March.  In addition, we are delighted that our highest scorer, Rosie Ma (Year 11), is one of only 500 students who got through to the prestigious Olympiad competition.

Congratulations to all participants and winners!  We look forward to hearing of all their further successes after Easter.
